Background: This study aimed to determine the knowledge, attitude, and practice levels of married women in Isfahan City, Iran, regarding health risks and the correct method of keeping and using pesticides at home.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 423 people were selected among married women with cases referring to comprehensive health service centers in Isfahan City. The data collection tool was a questionnaire including 4 sections of demographic information, knowledge (15 questions), attitude (8 questions), and practice (16 questions). Data were analyzed using SPSS software.
Findings: The average score of knowledge, attitude, and practice of Isfahan women regarding health risks, the correct methods of storing and using pesticides at home were 4.20 ± 1.91, 32.42 ± 4.98, and 17.01 ± 3.50, respectively. The average age of the participants in the study was 38.50 ± 11.99, and the range was 19-77 years. Moreover, 2.6% were illiterate, and 7.3% had primary education, 12.8% middle school education, 30.5% diploma, 17.7% post-graduate, and 28.8% had bachelor's education and above. Based on the occupation variable, 40% were housewives, 28% were employees, 7.6% were workers, 7.6% were retired, and 16.8% were self-employed. Based on the field of study variable, 16.5% of participants had medical and paramedical fields, 8.5% had technical and engineering fields, 13.5% had humanities fields, 3.3% had art fields, and 5.9% were technicians. Based on the variable of house type, 60.5% of people lived in apartments and 39.2% of people lived in villas.
Conclusion: Due to the low scores obtained, it is necessary to increase the level of knowledge and practice of women through holding appropriate training courses.
