Background: Health organizations within the community are numerous due to the various dimensions of health, including physical, mental, social, and spiritual aspects. This diversity has also led to the creation of parallel organizations within the health sector. The present study aims to outline the knowledge structure of research in the field of community health promotion, identify the key areas within this field, and determine the most important organizations operating in these areas.
Methods: This bibliometric study examined articles related to health promotion available in the Web of Science (WoS) database from 2020 to 2024. The search terms included "health promotion," "health education," "healthy lifestyle," "community health," "healthy behaviors," and "public health," all searched in English. The study focused on review articles and original research published in scientific journals.
Findings: The performance section examined the most frequently cited countries and journals, as well as the article publication process. In the knowledge maps section, vocabulary analysis, thematic classification of authors, and sustainable development were explored. Four clusters were identified: health education, sports and physical activity, medical issues, and mental health issues. Additionally, the age groups represented in the nodes included students, women, children, adolescents, adults, and youth.
Conclusion: The knowledge structure derived from studies in the field of health promotion is closely related to the educational domain of organizations responsible for health. Synonym analysis and clustering of research in community health promotion emphasize schools as the most significant entity within the educational domain of health-promoting organizations.
