Abstract: (12 Views)
Background: This study aimed to examine the correlation between health-promoting lifestyle behaviors and proficiency in everyday health information literacy among students at Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Ahvaz, Iran.
Methods: The study population consisted of all undergraduate and general doctorate students enrolled at Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences during the 2023‒2024 academic year. A total of 441 participants were selected using a stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP) and Health Information Literacy Questionnaire, and were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistical analyses—including frequency, percentage, correlation, partial correlation, t-tests, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and multivariate regression—via SPSS software.
Findings: Both health-promoting lifestyle behaviors and health information literacy levels among the surveyed students were found to be in the moderate to high range. Furthermore, an increase in daily health information literacy was associated with a corresponding improvement in the students' health-promoting lifestyle status, suggesting a significant positive correlation between these two variables. Regarding demographic factors, only the educational level was found to have a substantial influence on the relationship between the two primary research variables.
Conclusion: These results may provide foundational evidence for the development and implementation of targeted educational programs and interventions designed to enhance everyday health information literacy and promote healthier lifestyle choices among students at medical universities.
