Abstract: (1411 Views)
Background: Teachers are one of the influential groups in elevating social health. By teaching nutritional points to the students, they can both affect students' awareness and transfer such nutritional education to families. Using interventional method, this study was undertaken to survey the influence of nutrition and nutritional health education on the awareness of female elementary school teachers. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 57 female elementary school teachers were selected from Ferdows (a city in Iran). Prior to the initiation of the educational workshop, they were asked to fill out a questionnaire about nutrition and nutritional health. A 2-day workshop was then held. After 2 months, they were given a second questionnaire. The results were analyzed by paired t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and McNemar's test. Findings: Findings of our study showed that the mean score of awareness increased from 10.98% before the intervention to 18.2% after the intervention (P < 0.001). With regard to breakfast, teachers' awareness increased from 57.9% to 98.2% from before to after the intervention. Conclusion: Applying interventional methods of education regarding nutrition and nutritional health in teacher training centers in collaboration with medical and educational centers can elevate the health of students.
