Background: The family physician program has been carried out to provide easy and appropriate access to health services in towns with populations under 20,000 people. The purpose of the present study was to determine the knowledge, attitude, and satisfaction toward the family physician program in rural regions of Isfahan, Iran. Methods: In this descriptive, analytical study, 1200 people from the rural regions of Isfahan participated. Data collecting tool was a researcher-designed questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire was approved using content and face validity and internal reliability (α = 0.78). The collected data was analyzed using SPSS15. Findings: The mean scores of knowledge and attitude of the participants were 33.1 ± 15.9 and 50.4 ± 10.9, respectively. In addition, 46.4% of the subjects were fairly satisfied. The personnel of health centers were considered as the most important sources of information (78.7%). Conclusion: Based on our findings, the knowledge and attitude of people in rural areas were in moderate levels. The personnel of health centers had an important role in information transfer. Therefore, implementation of educational programs for people by health workers can improve the quality and effectiveness of the family physician program.
