Providing reproductive health in national and even international level is essential to promote health in society and family. This study aimed to determine knowledge and attitudes of couples about to get married in Yasuj, Iran, about reproductive health. Methods: This study was a descriptive cross-sectional analysis. Using available sampling method, 777 couples who referred to premarital counseling centers in Yasuj during 2010 were selected. Data was collected by a questionnaire including demographic information, knowledge, and attitudes about health care during pregnancy. Content validity of the questionnaire was measured by panel of health and midwifery experts and its reliability was measure by Cronbach's alpha (α = 0.83). Data was analyzed with SPSS18 Findings: The mean age of women and men were 22.2 ± 4.6 and 25.36 ± 4.3 years, respectively. The mean scores of knowledge and attitudes of women were 4.6 ± 2.4 and 10.5 ± 4.6, respectively. The corresponding scores obtained by men were 2.47 ± 1.8 and 3.35 ± 1.7, respectively. Compared to women, scores of knowledge and attitudes of men were not desirable. Knowledge and attitudes of subjects with higher education levels were significantly higher than those with lower education levels (P ≤ 0.001). Conclusion: Effective educational programs about reproductive health are essential. Considering the role of men in supporting health initiatives, more attention should be placed on training programs for men.
